Whole-Home Water Filtration in Montgomery and Bucks County

A whole-home filter treats the water where it enters the house, so every shower, every faucet, and every load of laundry gets filtered water, not just the kitchen tap. It is the system for chlorine taste, chlorination byproducts, and PFAS when you want the whole house covered. We test your water free and install the right media for what the test shows.

What a Whole-Home Filter Does

The system is a tank of filter media, usually activated carbon, plumbed into the main line after the meter or pressure tank. All the water in the house passes through it. Carbon is the workhorse because it holds onto chlorine, chloramine, the byproducts chlorination creates, and the forever chemicals PFOA and PFOS that show up in utility reports across Montgomery and Bucks County.

Chlorination byproducts matter beyond the glass. Trihalomethanes and haloacetic acids come off in shower steam and are absorbed through skin, which is why the EPA counts showering as an exposure route. A kitchen filter does nothing about that. A whole-home filter does.

Signs You Need Whole-Home Filtration

  • Chlorine or chemical smell in the shower
  • Your town's water report lists PFAS or chlorination byproducts
  • Orange, brown, or black staining on fixtures and laundry
  • Blue-green stains from acidic water eating copper
  • Dry, irritated skin and eyes after showering even with soft water
  • You want every tap in the house filtered, not just the kitchen

Media Matched to Your Water

Not every whole-home filter is the same tank. The media inside is chosen for the problem. Catalytic carbon for chloramine. Granular activated carbon sized for PFAS contact time. Iron and manganese media for well water staining. Acid neutralizer for low pH that is eating your copper pipes. Sediment pre-filtration to protect all of it.

The free test tells us which of these your water needs. Most municipal homes need carbon. Many well homes need iron removal or pH correction first. We install what the test calls for and nothing it does not.

  • Activated carbon for chlorine, chloramine, byproducts, and PFAS
  • Iron and manganese filtration for orange and black staining on well water
  • Acid neutralizers for low-pH water that corrodes copper
  • Sediment pre-filters to protect the main media and your fixtures
  • Backwashing valves on media tanks so there are no cartridges to change

Whole-Home Plus Reverse Osmosis

Whole-home carbon covers the house. Reverse osmosis at the kitchen sink adds a second, tighter barrier for the water you drink, and it is the system for arsenic, lead, radium, and nitrates that carbon does not catch. For homes whose report lists both PFAS and a metal or radionuclide, the pair is the complete answer.

Add a softener if the test shows hardness, and the house is done: soft water everywhere, filtered water everywhere, and the cleanest water at the tap you drink from.

FAQ

Common Questions

Activated carbon is one of the two technologies the EPA identifies as effective for PFOA and PFOS. A whole-home carbon system with enough media and contact time is designed to reduce PFAS at every tap. For the water you drink, pairing it with reverse osmosis adds a second barrier.

Whole-home covers every tap and is the answer for chlorine, byproducts, and PFAS throughout the house. RO is tighter but only treats one tap, and it is the answer for arsenic, lead, radium, and nitrates. Many homes do both.

No. Carbon does not remove hardness. If the test shows hard water you need a softener as well, usually installed right next to the filter.

We quote it after the free test as one flat upfront price that includes installation. The number depends on the media your water needs and your plumbing layout.

Carbon media typically lasts several years depending on your water and usage; iron and neutralizer media vary. Backwashing tanks have no cartridges to change in between.

A correctly sized tank does not noticeably affect pressure. Undersized cartridge filters do, which is one reason we size the system to your home's flow rate.
